When it comes to impact sockets, there are a lot of quality choices out there. We’ve been using the Milwaukee 1/2-inch deep impact socket set for a while to see if you should consider these over some of the other options out there.

These sockets are a great addition to the already impressive Shockwave line. The six-point SAE set offers a broad variety of twelve sizes from 3/8-inch all the way up to 1-1/16-inch. There’s also a 14-piece metric set available along with individual sizes.

As with other impact sockets, Milwaukee uses high-strength forged steel to withstand the pounding of an impact wrench.

The matte black finish on these sockets results from the strengthening treatment the steel goes through, and it certainly doesn’t hurt the look at all. We really love that Milwaukee painted the stamped size markings. This makes it easy to find the right socket the first time.

But what about when they get greasy? The markings are deep enough to read even if you get grease over it. So far, they clean up well and don’t seem to be getting less vibrant.

These sockets performed exactly how we expected. They fit snug on our Milwaukee M18 1/2-inch compact impact wrench and did not wobble around. The non-slip hex design feels secure and delivers a solid grip on fasteners, so these shouldn’t round nuts and bolts as quickly as loose-fitting sockets do.

My favorite feature is the ring groove at the base of the socket. Personally, it’s infuriating when I struggle to remove a socket with greasy hands. Milwaukee solved that issue with this brilliantly simple design.

Milwaukee set the price on this set at $74.99 and there’s a lifetime guarantee on their impact sockets and extensions. That’s in line with other name brands and sits between the pricing of budget brands and what you’ll pay from a tool truck.

Overall, we like what Milwaukee’s deep impact sockets offer. From what we’ve experienced, they have a quality build with a couple of genuinely helpful upgrades that take them a step up from other sockets we’ve used.
